Minister for Transport Kwaku Ofori Asiamah has told Parliament that the Wa Airport would commence operations by the end of October 2021.
Responding to a question filed by Member of Parliament (MP) for Wa Central, Abdul- Rashid Pelpuo, seeking to know when commercial flights to Wa will resume.
Mr Asiamah clearly stated that the rehabilitation of Wa airport was completed in 2019 which the Ghana Aviation Authority established a series of obstacle limitation surface that define the limits to which objects may projected and penetrate airspace.
He explained that due to some telecommunication masts and tall trees that posed danger to safety of aircraft operations, the African World Airlines ceased flight operations on 31st March 2020.
The minister emphatically stated that as at 19th July, 2021 all obstructions have been removed which Africa World Airlines can now safely operate to Wa without any significant safety hazard.
