The Appointments Committee of Parliament will vet the Minister-designate for Finance, Ken Ofori Atta today, Thursday, March 25, 2021.
Ofori-Atta will be grilled by the 26-member panel before his approval or otherwise.
He will be vetted as Minister of Finance in the same portfolio he held in the first tenure of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Appearing before the committee, he’s expected to brief the Appointments Committee on Ghana’s increasing debt stock and the state of the cedi, revenue mobilization.
He is also expected to intimate the process that led to the award of a government contract to Frontier Healthcare Services – the company conducting COVID-19 tests at the Kotoka International Airport. and the controversial Agyapa Royalties deal.
It follows postponement on two occasions based on requests made by the Finance Minister-designate due to his ill-health.
Ofori-Atta was flown to the United States of America on Sunday, February 14, 2021, to seek medical treatment for post-COVID-19 complications.
In his absence, the president appointed Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu as the Caretaker Minister of Finance to present the 2021 budget and economic policy.
