Search is underway for nine inmates who escaped from cells at the Atadeka Police Station in the Kpone Katamanso Municipality over the weekend.
Initially, twelve inmates broke out of the cells.
The Police in Ashaiman, however, acted swiftly to capture three of them but could not find the nine others.
How they break out
A suspect feigned illness and requested porridge on Sunday, April 4, 2021.
One of the two police officers on duty served the porridge.
However, the supposed ill suspect allegedly poured the porridge in the face of the officer giving the 12 inmates the chance to flee.
The Police launched a manhunt search for the escaped inmates and arrested one of them within the neighbourhood after a report from a resident.
The second inmate was nabbed after a failed attempt to flee the community.
According to reports, the family of the third inmate reported him to the police when he returned home.
