An accident at Gomoa Okyereko Junction on the Winneba – Accra highway involving three vehicles – two private cars and a commercial vehicle has led to 15 persons hospitalized at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital.
The accident happened on Friday afternoon. Most of the victims on board the vehicles are said to be first-year students of the Apam Senior High School who were reporting to school.
The Dominase District Police Commander, DSP David Osei Fofia, has confirmed the news and given chilling accounts of the accident. According to him, a Renault car with registration number AS 286-S, Toyota Vitz with a registration number GW 8108-21, and a Toyota Hiace commercial vehicle with registration number GT 373-21 had most students on board veered off his lane from the opposite direction and collided and somersaulted.
This, however, led to 15 passengers injured and currently in critical condition.
DSP Osei Fofia further advised drivers to adhere to road safety measures particularly, observe speed limits and also avoid careless driving.
