Immediate past Auditor General, Daniel Yao Domelevo has divulged that he was encouraged by then President-elect Nana Akufo-Addo to accept outgoing President John Mahama’s appointment in 2016.
According to Domelevo, after he heeded to the advice of the 2020 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, they became friends and have since maintained the friendship.
“Our relationship has been cordial since then and I am grateful to him for his support,” he intimated.
He disclosed during his thanksgiving ceremony and retirement service on Wednesday, March 10, 2021.
During the short ceremony at the Christ the King Church at Cantonments, Mr Domelevo expressed his gratitude to all those who supported him while in office.

President Akufo-Addo directed Daniel Domelevo to proceed on retirement 16 hours after he returned from his 167-day accumulated leave on Wednesday, March 3, 2021.
The directive, according to a statement signed by Secretary to the President, Nana Asante Bediatuo, stems from an indication by the Audit Service Board that Mr. Daniel Domelevo has exceeded the eligible age to remain in the workforce.
“The attention of the President of the Republic has been drawn to records and documents made available to this Office by the Audit Service, that indicate that your date of birth is 1st June 1960 and that in accordance with article 199 (1) of the Constitution, your date of retirement as Auditor-General was 1st June 2020.”
