President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo left Accra on Thursday, April 15, 2021, to attend the swearing-in of Republic of Congo President-elect, Denis Sassou Nguesso.
President Akufo-Addo is attending the inauguration in his capacity as Chairperson of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Accompanied the First Gentleman was the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Madam Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, and officials of the Presidency and Foreign Ministry.
The President is expected to return to Ghana on Friday, April 16, 2021.
In his absence, Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will assume his position in fulfillment of Article 60 clause (8) of the the1992 Constitution.
