‘Any youth who depends on government for survival will forever be poor’ – Kennedy Agyapong

Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, says depending on the government for survival is the surest way to remain poor.

He asserts any youth who wholly depends on the government for their needs will continue lingering in poverty owing it is beyond the government’s resource to ensure the financial independence of the citizenry.

“Any youth who depends on government for survival will always be poor. The reason the person will be poor is that the government has a burden to carter for 30 million people. There’s no government in the world that provides everything for its citizens; gives financial aid to everyone to be satisfied. Not even Dubai which pays jobless citizens because of their oil reserve and other resources.”

“We are sharing the national cake among everyone, so, if you decide to survive with the little piece you are going to be poor,” the legislator told Original 91.9FM’s Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Thursday, April 1, 2021.

While advising the youth he admonished them to embrace opportunities regardless of their field of study and that way they will sail through to success.

The business mogul also urged them to adopt the concept of survival of the fittest stressing on the need to cultivate the attitude of self-reliance.

“The attitude should be; ‘I want to take my destiny into my own hands, so, I’m going to work hard’” Kennedy Agyapong said adding, “Working hard especially the university graduates; because the person earned a degree in Administration apart from that course he or she will not work in any field. A Social Science graduate will also decline any job opportunity from other fields. Meanwhile, this same person will embrace any given job opportunity including washing of pots without the shores of Ghana. Why? He or she needs to survive“
