Girlfriend killer not our deputy director – YEA

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has categorically dispelled a news story citing its Deputy Director as the culprit in a murder case.

The Agency maintains it stands for youth employment and does not promote any form of violence.

Pockets of news outlets carried the news last week that a deputy YEA director is in Police grips after allegedly beating girlfriend to death.

According to the reports, he assaulted Elizabeth Yesutor Akpalu on numerous occasions leading to her death on 8 March

But reacting to the accusation on Original 91.9FM’s Adwenekasa socio-political morning programme on Friday, March 12, 2021, the Corporate Affairs Director for the Youth Employment Agency, Akwasi Afriyie said, the news in the media lacks positive accuracy and its contents contradict the facts of the matter.

He debunked the linking of the Deputy Director of the Agency stating he has no hand in such an unfortunate incident.

Instead, Mr. Afriyie explained that the said, Philip Caesar Kumah who has allegedly beat his lover to the dead is a contractual staff with the YEA in the capacity of Monitoring and Evaluation Officer in the Akatsi South District i.

‘Even at our district, we do not have such position as deputy director. All we have is a director who supervises every activity of the Agency in the district. All YEA staff report to him. He has his administrator and financial officer and other protocols observed,” He told Kwaku Owusu Adjei.

“He is not the Deputy Director,” Mr. Afriyie added.
