A former scribe of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Bernard Allotey Jacobs, has narrated how he became friends with his bitterest political rival, Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.
The two politicians have been close friends over the years and are incessantly seen together.
Narrating the story behind their friendship in an interview with Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Original 91.9FM on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, the erstwhile NDC Central Region Chairman intimated that they became friends upon meeting for the first time and the rest is history.
Prior to being friends with the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Allotey Jacobs and Mr. Agyapong had been throwing jabs at each other on radio and tensions were high between them.
However, one day when the Educated Fisherman saw the maverick NPP legislator in Parliament, he approached him and that was the genesis of their friendship.
“One person I respect so much in our political spectrum is Hon. Kennedy Agyapong. He’s my friend. We were bitter enemies and it came to a point when we met in Parliament; I didn’t know him likewise him but we often threw jabs at each other on the radio. Then, Hon. Cletus Avoka told me that; ‘Allotey, that your man whom you’ve been fighting is passing’ And, I asked him, who? And, he replied, ‘Kennedy Agyapong”.
“I screamed his name; ‘Ken’. He responded; ‘Who are you?’ And, I told him ‘I am Allotey Jacobs’ Kennedy retorted; ‘You this old man has been displaying tomfoolery behaviour, I will kick you’ Then. We embraced. That is how we became friends.” Allotey recalled.
