A team of delegation of four (4) Parliamentary Select Committees on Local Government and Rural Development, Works and Housing, Environment Science and Technology together with Finance have expressed satisfaction at the progress of work by Zoomlion Ghana Limited after a tour to inspect on-going works on various sites in five  regions.
The team visited regions including; Western, Ashanti, Western North, Ahafo, and Bono where decommissioning and reengineering works, as well as an Integrated Recycling and Composting Plant (IRECOP) are being constructed in the regions by waste management giant, Zoomlion Ghana Limited.
Addressing the press in Sunyani on Friday, April 17, 2021, after the tour of all five regions, Chairman of the Local Government and Rural Development Committee, Hon. Emmanuel Gyamfi expressed his satisfaction with the progress of work in all regions visited.
“I express satisfaction and wish to state that the purpose from which the various Committees traveled from Accra to Takoradi, Sefwi-Wiawso, Kumasi, Goaso, and Sunyani has been achieved and we are impressed on the work done so far”.
According to him, “waste management is something that we cannot joke with because we generate the waste and after you generate the waste you need to manage it. So, what we have seen is a great effort by government and Zoomlion Ghana Limited for coming together to have this waste management challenges solved”.
He further praised the contractor, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, and the consultants, for good progress so far and urged all to finish up on time as promised.
“What we will be doing the next time is also to go through the other areas to find out the progress of work so far and with the assurance that has been given by the contractor and the financier we believe that by July-August most of the projects will be completed and the assembly will have the benefit to utilise those facilities”.
“What we need to commend Zoomlion for is the efforts that it’s been putting in place to support the government to manage waste. The company’s effort is so enormous” he added.
“On behalf of the committee, we will commend Zoomlion, the contractor, consultant, regional coordinating council, and the municipal assemblies for walking with us throughout this five  day tour that we have embarked on”.
The projects by Zoomlion Ghana Limited a subsidiary of the Jospong Group of Companies are to receive and process solid, liquid, and medical waste from Metropolitan, Municipal and adjoining districts in the regions and to ensure a clean and green environment for all Ghanaians.
The services of the facilities include; receiving and processing of MSW to recover recyclable materials. Production and sale of organic compost sale of baled papers, plastics, cans, metal scraps, etc. Production and sale of pelletized plastics. Production and sale of shredded papers and plastics, etc.
