Governance expert and reverend minister, Dr Isaac Yamoah has advised Ghanaians against the mounting pressure on President Nana Akufo-Addo to state his stance on LGBTQI+ activities in the country
“If we are honest, this LGBTQI is not the doing of the President. It’s the whole world ushering us to anti-Christ, so, every world leader would be compelled. That is the world if you are a President you cannot say, please the whole world is decriminalising LGBTQI activities, so, please Ghanaians, I plead, personally, I wouldn’t legalize it but, the whole world is legalising it. For this reason, I have legalised it. Then, you are not a leader,’ he said on Adwenekasa on Original 91.9FM.
Given the waves of public resentments that greeted the LGBTQI+ activities in the country a few weeks ago, many expected the President to state his stance during his first address in his second term.
But delivering the State of the Nation Address on Tuesday President Akufo-Addo was quite on the topical issue which has been met with divergent views.
Reacting to the criticisms on Original FM’s Adwenekasa socio-political morning show on Wednesday in an interview with Kwaku Owusu Adjei, Dr Isaac Yamoah justified the President’s failure to comment on the LGBTQ+ activities during the 2021 State of the Nation Address, stating that such issues trigger emotions.
He said the President Akufo-Addo-led administration will address the ragging debate in due course.
According to him, we have certain things, “which is hidden from the populace that the President cannot say but, he has to act on it because he’s among the world leaders”.
Dr Yamoah stated unequivocally that the legalisation of LGBTQI+ activities is bound to happen regardless of the mass resistance.
“Believe you me, I have mentioned this from 2017-2018, what come may, we will pass a law to legalise homosexuality. With the opening of an office and the aftermath they were thrown out by the landlord and etc, I tell you plainly that, LGBTQI will be legalised. I am a reverend minister – I am a man of God, in Revelation, it is written it’d be legalised – the Anti-Christ system,” he asserted, adding, “His Excellency, Nana Akufo-Addo can do nothing about it, so, that should stop that,” he cautioned critics of the President’s silence on LGBTQI+ activities in the country.
“It is beyond the President, let us educate ourselves. This LGBT is beyond President Akufo-Addo,” he retaliated.
He said the Commander-In-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces cannot stop its legalisation in the country noting that LGBTQI+ activities in Ghana is the fulfilment of God’s prophesy.
