Majority leader gets romantic; flatters wife on the floor of Parliament

Suame lawmaker and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs & Leader of Government Business, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu was carried away by emotions during the presentation of the budget statement and economic policy of the government for the year ending 31st December 2021 on the floor of Parliament on Friday.

“Let me also Speaker,’ the Majority leader averred, adding “On this momentous occasion let me wish the First Lady of the Republic, the happiest birthday for attaining the biblical optimum age of three scores and ten. Today, Friday, the 12th of March. Speaker, to Mrs Irene Bonsu [his wife],” he said – drawing cheers and laughter from colleague MPs.

“Let me just say what can I do without you ?” Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu eulogized.

The Speaker, Rt, Hon. Alban Bagbin interjected asking, “Hon Minister, is it an invited to come and stand by you?”

In response, the caretaker Minister of Finance who presented the budget on behalf of the President due to the ill health of the Finance Minister-designate, Ken Ofori Atta answered in the negative.

“Mr Speaker, you know that she’s a stranger in this House and our rules will not permit her to stand by me, otherwise, I know I will have the permission of the Minority leader in him I’m sometimes well pleased to be by myself,” he intimated.
