The Ghana Police Service says three pregnancy tests at the Axim Government Hospital, the Takoradi Hospital, and the Effia Nkwanta Government Hospital have all proven that, Josephine Panyin Mensah, the alleged missing-but-found pregnant woman was never pregnant.
Multiple tests have been run to ascertain whether Madam Mensah was indeed pregnant at the time she was reported missing when she was found without the pregnancy.
She has been on admission at the Axim Government Hospital since Tuesday, September 21 when she was found at the garden of the Jehovah Witnesses’ church at Tolanu, a suburb of Axim.
She was found without her pregnancy, raising fears about the hideous ordeal she went through in the hands of her alleged kidnappers.
But on Wednesday, September 22, Western Region Minister Kwabena Otchere Darko Mensah opened Pandora’s box by stating that Josephine was never pregnant.
He told Kessben FM in an interview that the pregnancy all this while has been fake, as per preliminary investigations by the National Security.
The news has been rejected by the relatives of the 28-year-old, who was declared a suspect by the police, and residents of Columbia, where she lives.
Some residents even invoked curses on the regional minister for spewing such “lies” on their neighbour.
Many have, therefore, called for an independent examination of the hitherto kidnapping victim.
Missing pregnant woman found
The 28-year-old pregnant woman who went missing in Takoradi on September 16, has been reportedly found at Axim in the Nzema East Municipality.
The victim, Josephine Simons went on a morning walk from the Amanoo road to the Paa Grant Roundabout as part of her routine exercise on that Thursday and did not return.
A search party was convened after her mother received a call from an unknown person who said they could not use her for what they intended.
During the phone call, the suspects also said they had dumped her somewhere, a close relative.
The relative said she was found on Tuesday, September 21st at Axim and is currently on admission at the Axim Government Hospital.
