‘My constituents held a vigil to celebrate my appointment’ – Dep. Health Minister-designate

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Daboya Mankarigu Constituency in the Savannah Region, Alhaji Mahama Asei Seini, says news of his appointment to serve as the Deputy Minister of Health has been greeted with rapturous cheers from his constituents.

Speaking to Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Thursday, April 22, 2021, the Deputy Health Minister-designate said his constituents are really elated President Akufo-Addo named him among his deputy nominees to bring his expertise to bear and as a result, they held a vigil to celebrate the limestone.

“They are very happy about it. There is a lot of jubilations in the Daboya Mankarigu Constituency because this is the first term NPP has taken the seat since 1992 and we [NPP] took the seat in grand style.”

“I won 4,000 votes and also the President [Akufo-Addo] won. That is the only seat is the NPP won both the presidency and the parliamentary. All other constituencies were skirt and blouse, so, it is unique to me and my the constituency so when the president announced that he’s sending me to the ministry the whole constituency set fire into blazers they were very happy,’ he said on Adwenekasa on Original 91.9FM.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo released the names of his deputy minister nominees for his second term in office on Wednesday.

In all, there are 39 deputy ministers appointed under 24 portfolios.

The ministries of Trade, Local Government, and Energy have three deputy minister-nominees.

The list featured ten prominent women who were appointed to serve the top vacant positions.

All the deputy ministers are subject to Parliament approval.
