Sammy Gyamfi, Communications Officer for the NDC says even though he does not know the new acting IGP, COP George Akuffo Dampare too well, information passed around about him gives an impression that he possesses the needed qualities to be successful at his new role.
According to him, he is forward-looking to see the new IGP bring some sanity into the police to live up to their responsibilities which have been the greatest concerns to persons who matter.
The political spokesman for the NDC was providing his opinion on the newly appointed police head-on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on Thursday, July 22, 2021.
Speaking about his competence for the job, Sammy Gyamfi said, “well, I don’t know much about COP Dampare, I have never met him but since his appointment became public, the commentary or the testimonies I have heard about him are quite positive. Like you have observed on social media, you have seen people across the political divide laud his credentials.”
He said there have been scintillating remarks about his personality saying “Some have said that he is a professional police officer, he is a nice man and he is a gentleman. People have said that he is very diligent and he is fair-minded, open-minded and so on.’
Mr. Gyamfi acknowledged Mr. Dampare’s sterling attributes adding “these are good virtues. Clearly it appears that over the years that he has been in the force, he has made a good name for himself. He has carved a niche for himself” he added.
He welcomed Mr. Dampare’s appointment saying he hopes “that he will bring about the needed changes in the administration of the police service and the maintenance of law and order in this country because currently, that is one of the biggest challenges we are confronted with”
