Parliament officially concludes debate on mid-year budget review

The Parliament of Ghana today, Tuesday, August 3, 2021, concluded the debate on the mid-year budget review through the two leaders of the House, Majority and minority.

Beginning the debate on the part of the Minority leader, Mr Haruna Iddrisu said, the NPP government has show abysmal performance when it comes to the management of the economy.

He said the NPP government has borrowed so much money to increase the country’s debt meanwhile, there is nothing to show to that effect only to increase the country’s debt to GDP.

But the Majority leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu refuted the claims by the Mr Haruna Iddrisu and provided data to prove that, Ghana’s economy is really doing better under the management of NPP President Akufo-Addo’s led government.

He said mining grew at 0.2% percent under NDC but it has grown at 30.8% percent under NPP government, Oil and gas grew at negative 15.6% percent in 2016 under NDC but it is now growing at 80.3% percent.

Mr Kyei Mensah-Bonsu did said the Ghana’s economy is really bouncing back in a very profound manner and that, President Akufo-Addo and his government must be encouraged in order to do more as they are on good bath of improving the economy and the lives of the people.
