Sammy Gyamfi, Communications Officer for the NDC has noted that speculations surrounding the Ahmed Suale murder and political actors that have questioned the thoroughness of the police in handling the matter should be the center focus of the new acting IGP, COP George Akuffo Dampare.
The spokesman and lawyer for the NDC has been casting probing lens on the anticipated performance of the new appointment of COP Dampare, “Lastly, I am very expectant and I want to see how he will handle this issue of Kennedy Agyapong relative to the accusations he has made against the police service about the murder of Ahmed Suale and the identities of those who committed that murder and serious allegations he has made against the police about their complacencies and how they are protecting the murderers of Ahmed Suale and so on.”
Mr. Sammy Gyamfi said he expects the new IGP to tackle the issue from another perspective.
“I want to see how differently he will handle that issue. But so far what we have seen is a very timorous police service when it comes to wrongdoing on the part of handling ranking officers in the Akuffo-Addo government and a police service that is always being used as a tool to hound opponents and innocent Ghanaians,” he stated.
Mr. Gyamfi, however, noted for Mr. Dampare to make an impact in his new office, he needs to defy intrusion from interested parties. “I hope sincerely that he can rise above all these political pressures and interferences and show professionalism and bring about the needed changes we all desire. So congratulations to him.”
