The leaders of the LGBT+ community in Ghana has sent words of encouragement to their members following the raid and shutdown of their office by security operatives.
Taking to their Facebook page on Wednesday afternoon in a post sighted by Original News, the leaders urged it members to remain claim and focus while ensuring them they will triumph regardless of the raid.
“While this unfortunate incident has happened, we wish to encourage all our members, and queer Ghanaians to stay calm. Do not panic,” part of the post read.
According to the leadership, although the security officers have succeeded in closing the office, “the real office is in our hearts and minds.”
Security Officers raid, close LGBTQ office in Accra
A joint Police and National Security operation has led to the raid and closure of the recently opened office of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) community at Ashongman in Accra.
The raid took place on Wednesday, 24 February 2021.
It follows a complaint by the landlord of the five-bedroom apartment about suspicious activities taking place in the facility.
