Member of Parliament for Suhum Constituency, Mr. Kwadwo Asante on Friday handed over Twenty-three (23) vehicles to his constituents in aid of job creation among people in the transport business.
Vehicles ranging from Daewoo and Kia morning to twelve and 25-seater Hyundai buses were given to people in his constituency on work and pay agreement.
Mr. Asante, popularly known by his constituents as ‘OBOAFO’ explained that, this kind gesture was part of the campaign promises he made during the 2020 elections by helping anyone within his constituency who’s really serious and ready to work, be it in the transport business, tailoring or seamstress, beautician or hairdressing, tabletop business people or even traders in order to help improve their living standards.
He said, this kind of support giving to his people in Suhum is not based on partisan or tribal but to everyone.
In an interview with Original 91.9FM’s Kwabena Ahwireng Martin, the MP stated that he has been in such business since 2008 and has established such transport business at most part of the country, such as Winneba and Assin Fosu in the Central Region; Ho, Aflao station; Accra, Tudu station, Eastern Region and many other parts of the country and this would not be the last since more plans of giving assistance to people are underway, especially to the good people of his constituents, Suhum.
The lawmaker also used the occasion to advise drivers in general especially those who received the vehicles to be law-abiding by obeying all rules and regulations on our roads in order to reduce road accidents.
Mr. Kwadwo Asante further urged all drivers to demonstrate good behavior towards all sundry they meet in the line of work, maintain discipline and loyal to their customers at all times, and most especially, be mindful of their outfits to command receive respect from their passengers.
Mr. Asante never left out the message on the 2021 annual budget, which he used the occasion to educate his constituents on how beneficial the budget would be to Ghanaians in general and should all accept it in good faith since President Akufo-Addo has good plans for all.
He urged the good people of Suhum to embrace the 2021 budget in order to assist the government to deliver on his mandate for the betterment of all.
The MP who is also a transport mogul touched on the vehicle income tax being taken off by the government as part of COVID-19 relief in order to lower the burden of Ghanaians, more especially those in the transport business and private as well.
In his closing remarks, the MP expressed his gratitude to all party executives who were present at the event for the great support they exhibited, more especially his colleague MP from lower Akim Constituency, Mr. Charles Acheampong, and his women organizer, Mrs. Rosemond Owusu Boadi for their presence at the event.
