The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has assured casual workers it employed on a contract basis for the 2020 general elections that they will be paid not later than April 30, 2021.
According to the EC, it is working with the Finance Ministry to make funds available for the payment of their unpaid wages.
This comes after the Operatives registered their dissatisfaction with the electoral body over the delayed payment last week.
The EC in a statement on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, noted that ‘ the Commission regrets the delay in effecting payments and ensure all Fields Operatives that arrangements are being made to ensure the timely release of funds”.
The statement, however, expressed gratitude to the Operatives for upholding the core values of the Commission during the December 7 elections to ensure it was successful.
