Management of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has ensured the public that areas it cut water supply in the Greater Accra for maintenance will soon be restored.
Last week, the GWCL announced that there will be an interruption in the water supply to some parts of the Greater Accra Region from Thursday, April 22, to Monday, April 26.
The affected areas include Afienya, Apollonia, Gbetsele, Ashiaman, all communities in Tema (Community 1 to 25), Prampram, East Legon Trasaco, Adjei Kojo, Free Zones enclave, Coca Cola, among others.
The water supply cut was to enable “engineers to replace two hundred meters of a weak session of the main 42-inch transmission pipeline from Kpong to Tema, around Gbetsele junction.”
Speaking to Original 91.9FM in an interview, the Public Relations Officer of GWCL, Stanley Mantey, said the planned maintenance work has been completed and affected areas can access water in their homes.
“The tape will flow any moment from now,” he said.
Mr. Mantey also indicated that Ghana Water Company Limited will not embark on any further maintenance work in the second quarter thus April – June 2021.
