2020 election petition: Mahama files closing address

The court had asked all the parties to submit their closing addresses but the legal team for John Mahama defaulted due to the review application.

The legal team for former President John Dramani Mahama have filed their closing addresses in the ongoing election petition.

This follows an order by the Supreme Court on Monday, February 22 2021 instructing them to file their closing addresses after defaulting earlier due to the review application.

The closing addresses are the summary of all that has transpired in the course of the hearing and what each of the parties wanted as per their case before the court.

The lawyers for the first and second respondents, Electoral Commission and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo respectively filed theirs on February 17, 2021.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has set Thursday, March 4, 2021, as the date to decide on the Petition.

John Mahama who rejected the results of the 2020 presidential election is seeking a rerun of the elections.

According to Mr Mahama, none of the candidates who contested the 2020 presidential election secured the required 50% plus one mark to be declared the winner of the polls.
