The Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has summoned Health Minister, Kweku Agyemang Manu to appear before the House in the next two hours to answer questions in his name which was filed by the Member of Parliament for Sefwi Akontombra, Alex Tetteh Djornobuah,
Mr. Tetteh Djornbuah wants the Health Minister to answer questions on the type of health facility being constructed in his constituency and the date of completion.
But Kwaku Agyeman-Manu refused to show up.
His absence provoked the anger of the NDC MPs and called for the Minister to be penalized.
However, the Majority Chief Whip Frank Annoh Dompreh pleaded with the Speaker to defer the questions as the Health Minister has given an explanation for his absence to the Majority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu.
The Minority Chief Whip Muntaka Mubarak insisted Agyeman-Manu should face consequences arguing that such attitude on the part of Ministers must not be tolerated to undermine the work of Parliament.
On his part, the Majority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu felt Muntaka Mubarak was been unfair to the Minister stating that the reason for holding the Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman Manu has been explained to the entire House.
In his ruling, the Speaker demanded that the Minister appears before the House to answer the question in the next two hours (11:40am to 1:40pm) or face the wrath of Parliament.
