Ejura Injury: Don’t disregard commission’s report, ask questions on what led to the outcome — Eugene Boakye to political players

Eugene Boakye Antwi has said as a nation, people may have grievances and differences on the outcome of investigations but the ability to question what led to the outcome will do the nation a lot of good.

The Member of Parliament for Subin was drawing similarities to recent dissatisfaction among political players and actors questioning the outcomes of probe actions, specifically, the three-member committee tasked to probe the security handling of the Ejura protest.

He said people doubting the credibility of probes is nothing new in the country because key personalities have similarly disagreed with probe outcomes in the past and therefore cannot be a bone for contention.

Clarifying his point on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, Mr. Eugene Boakye Antwi recalled moments when the quest to investigate issues was left in the dark.

“When there was a report on PV Obeng and Co. and there was a white Paper issued, what happened to that white paper? Nothing happened,” he opined.

Eugene Antwi said he finds no fault, therefore, if the President never produced any outcome of the Ayawaso West Wuogon Commission of inquiry. “What is wrong with what Akufo-Addo did with Ayawaso Wuogon Commission? Because we have seen things in the past like that.”

Boakye Antwi stressed that if there has been such commonality in the outcome of probe actions, what actors and players must do is to seek clarity why such outcomes are determined.

“The point I’m trying to make is that Akufo-Addo is not the only President who has disagreed with the finding of the Commission. But when these matters come up. We are not saying Akufo-Addo is right or Rawlings is right or Akufo-Addo is wrong. What we do is: we interrogate the decisions and understand why these decisions were taken” he indicated.

He said he is not coerced into coming to conclusions on important matters yet people have the nerves to talk about the Ayawaso event on any day urging actors and players to back their utterances with facts.
