Abuga’s health: Exercise prerogative of mercy and pardon him – Kweku Baako to Akufo-Addo

The Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has appealed to the President to exercise his prerogative of mercy and grant pardon to Mr. Abuga Pele, former ‘GYEEDA’ boss who has been serving a six-year jail term at the Nsawam Prisons.

He was analysing the reported critical health condition of Mr. Abuga on the Thursday, June 3, 2021, edition of the Good Morning Ghana programme on Metro TV as he made suggestions based on the hospital report of the ailing former ‘GYEEDA’ boss.

Mr. Baako said if indeed the prison and medical authorities have done an evaluation of the state of health of Mr. Pele and found it to be critical, then he is putting in a word on behalf of the victim for President Nana Akufo-Addo to exercise his prerogative of mercy and grant pardon.

He went on to state that if the condition of the victim is critical and has few months to the completion of his jail term, therefore,  he doesn’t find a reason why the former National Coordinator for GYEEDA must still be behind bars.

“If his condition is critical and I believe, so, because otherwise, they would not have sent him to the hospital”- Mr. Baako added.

The seasoned journalist noted that there’s a health faculty within the Nsawam Prison compound that provides medical assistance for the inmates and the very moment a sick prisoner is moved out of the prison yard to an external health facility, means the prison authorities have come to terms with the insufficiency of its medical care systems to contain the kind of disease the patient is suffering from.

He also urged the various stakeholders of the matter to evaluate Mr. Abuga Pele’s case, prepare a report, and hand it over to authorities concerned and he believes that a pardon will be in the offing.
