GHS22.5m insurance fraud: Tema Central MP denies accusations

Tema Central Constituency lawmaker, Mr. Yves Hanson-Nortey, has brushed off media reports suggesting he has defrauded Star Assurance of GHS22.5 million.

Mr. Hanson said such publications lack positive accuracy and a smear campaign to dug his name through the mud.

In a statement available to Originalfmonline.com, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament said the publications are misleading and published with malicious intents.

Explaining his side of the story, the Tema Central MP said the matter is rather an issue of fraud perpetrated against his company, Apex Petroleum.

According to him, the said fraud consequently resulted in debt.

The criminal element in the matter, he further noted, has been under police investigation since 2020.

He, thus, indicated that he is at a loss as to why an impression will be created that he is the perpetrator and not the victim.

The civil aspect of the matter, the MP disclosed, is being pursued in the high court.
