President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed confidence in whoever is elected to be the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, of winning the 2024 elections.
According to him, the objective and responsibility is to do whatever it is necessary to make sure the victory is forthcoming.
“…..I’m very very confident that, on the 7th of December 2024, the new NPP Presidential candidate is going to win the elections of 2024. So, our objective, our responsibility is to do whatever it is necessary to make sure that victory is forth coming”.
He indicated that the party has delivered its promises to Ghanaians since winning the 2016 and 2020 elections, hence retaining the party in 2024 is possible.
Speaking at the 29th anniversary celebration of the party on the theme; a tradition for stability, prosperity and continuity at the party headquarters in Accra on Thursday, August 5, 2021, President Akufo-Addo said, “the prosperity of the nation is going to be shaken if we allow the path to progress to be diverted.”
“we have to continue our way forward in Ghana, we cannot accept the backslidden that takes place every now and then. It hasn’t benefitted our nation and will not benefit our nation. The foundations that we are laying today for the prosperity of our nation are going to be shaken if again through our own fault, we allow the path to progress to be diverted”.
The NPP, which has won four Presidential elections since the 1992 constitution came into being was formed on 28th July 1992.
On his part, the National Chairman of the party, Freddie Blay urged party leadership and members to unite for the progress of the party.
“I want to charge the members of the party to prioritize unity over parochial interest. This is the only way that we will still be on top of government and our contract with the people of Ghana in terms of its development”.
“This is the only party that can deliver that, and we must keep it so, and we must be very united irrespective of our own personal interest,” he added.
Mr. Blay added that the NPP has delivered on its core mandate.
“And I believe this is what Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is doing at the moment, irrespective of the ugly noises and sometimes direct confrontations… What will keep us in power and help us build a sustainable future is our dedication to delivering faithfully the promises we made to the people of this country”.
