President Akufo Addo’s nominee for the Yendi Municipality of the Northern Region, Alhaji Ahmed Yussuf Abubakar, has been rejected by Assembly Members today, Friday.
At the end of polls, the nominee failed to meet the 2/3 threshold to be appointed the Yendi Municipal Chief Executive.
Alhaji Ahmed Yusuf polled 21 votes out of a total 41 vote cast representing 51 percent.
Twenty (20) Assembly Members voted against the nomination of the MCE whereas one assembly member did not participate.
Director of Electoral Commission in the Northern Region, Mr. Lucas Yiryil, who announced the results said the failed nominee is qualified for reelection in the next ten days.
This is the first confirmation exercise conducted in the Northern Region.
