The leadership of the opposition National Democratic Congress [NDC] has hinted at embarking on a nationwide tour of the party in April 2021.
According to the NDC, it is to galvanize the base of the party after the 2020 polls.
The tour is expected to touch base with party members and explain the party’s plans and policies on how they intend to gain power in 2024.
The move, according to the party leadership, is aimed at also addressing a series of challenges party members face.
The Greater Accra Regional Organizer of the NDC, Anthony Nukpenu speaking to Original 91.9 FM’s morning show ‘Adwenekasa’ on Thursday, March 25, 2021, said the tour will also help address some grievances within the party.
He said “even before the supreme court ruling, we have had several discussions as to the various programs we have to embark on. As it stands now, we are ready to roll out our engagement with the various stakeholders in the regional circle then to the constituencies”.
According to him, “because of the escalating situation of the COVID has made us relax up to this time just in April after the Easter break, we are hitting the constituencies to make sure we will have some discussions to check some of the situation arising within the party circle”.
“We need to create a platform for the grassroots members to understand the work in governance and parliament to takeout unnecessary attacks and decries around MPs” he added.
It is unclear if the party will use the tour to address moves by some party members to campaign for possible flagbearer hopefuls ahead of the 2024 general elections.
