Suspended General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyapong, has been admitted back into the party.
The decision was arrived after a marathon National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, a statement released by the party said.
Mr. Agyapong together with two other party executives; former National Chairman, Paul Afoko, and the former National Vice Chairman, Sammy Crabbe were suspended for misconduct.
The party found the three-party executives guilty of violating Article 3(d) of the party’s constitution.
According to the party, Mr. Agyabeng was engaging in “unilateral actions and activities without consultation with or seeking authorization from the NEC.”
The move put Mr. Agyapong’s political future in peril.
Lifting the ban restores him as a member of the party’s NEC, Steering Committee, and the National Council.
Regardless of the suspension, he joined President Nana Akufo-Addo tour all the 16 regions prior to the 2020 presidential election.
